The British Invasion 2K6 took place March 4th and featured 22 bands including GBH and the Adicts, who didn’t get to play because the show was shut down. The police were called in by security after a stabbing. When the cops arrived they were outnumbered and had to leave when people began to throw bottles at them. They returned with larger numbers from multiple police departments and riot units. In an attempt to clear the pavilion they launched teargas and pepper spray into the crowed, which only made the crowd angrier. As soon as I saw the riot police hitting people with batons and I began breathing in the gas I didn’t see a reason to hang around. Here’s a story from someone who stuck it out:
“British invasion was crazy! Everyone was having a good time and then some white power motherfuckers started yelling “white power, white power!” That’s when people got pissed! Fighting broke out against some white power douche bags and someone got beat-down and stabbed in the head. After the fight the crowd started chanting to the neo-Nazis “fuck white power, fuck white power.
The cops started shooting teargas and pepper spray bombs into the crowds. Rubber bullets and bean bags began flying past our heads. People were coughing and falling on the ground and everyone was getting pissed-off. That’s when it escalated into a riot. People were destroying businesses, turning over cop cars, and lighting shit on fire.”

“A Nazi was in a one-on-one fight and his girlfriend jumped in so i had to choke the bitch out. A cop smacked a little girl in the face with his baton and I had to try and help her from bleeding to death.
Honestly though, I feel the majority of everyone handled the whole situation wrong. The cops rushing in violently shooting and spraying shit at people just pissed everyone off. Kids started smashing and breaking shit at Jack in the Box before I got my jumbo jack!! I remember watching kids running out of the tear gas filled venue to get hit in the face by officer’s batons.
To all my friends: you motherfuckers rock. It took a riot, but you guys rock!! You really find out a lot about people when shit like this happens. The lack of decency was probably the worst part of the whole night. What the fuck is the matter with people? There was only about a handful of people that actually cared enough to help.
Other than the burning I had a good time!!!!!”
